The Gatewatch stood to fight Nicol Bolas. However, they were making their stand in his arena in his personal plane. They were fighting with a handicap against the most powerful being in the multiverse. A being who had spent thousands of years planning for every eventuality.
The odds were heavily stacked against the heroes... and Liliana knew it. So she decided to do something drastic and began casting an immensely powerful spell that she had only recently mastered. Slowly at first, but with gathering speed, her spell reached out to every living thing on Amonkhet and began siphoning their life energy into her.
She began to grow.
By the time anyone noticed, it was too late to stop her. Soon, she was several hundred feet tall, making her larger than even the elder dragon they faced.
She smiled as she looked down at him and prepared another spell.
