Titans, goddesses, megas—there are numerous terms for the ruling giantess elite of the Amidalan Empire. Since Empress Padme Amidala's ascension and conquest of known space, the Titans have awed and frightened the galaxy's inhabitants with their colossal powers and enigmatic culture. However, after decades of Titan rule, certain aspects have become accepted facts, the most important being their obedience to hierarchy. All Titans aspire to dominate and rule over the tiny, weak beings they tower above, ranging from a single village to an entire star sector. They bond together with other Titans based on shared beliefs, history, or species, forming domains with members varying from half a dozen to tens of thousands of Titans, each competing within and against other domains to expand their power. Yet, despite this rampant power struggle and even open warfare between domains, all Titans remained subject to the authority of Empress Padme. Her commands are absolute, and none of her subjects would dare to subvert or oppose her total rule of the galaxy in any form.
However, there are always exceptions to the rule, and one of those who foolishly attempted to defy the order of the Amidalan Empire was Lady Qi'ra of the Crimson Dawn. Having grown up as an orphaned petty criminal in service to the White Worms syndicate on Corellia, Qi'ra resented having to endure being beholden to her criminal employer for over a decade before ascending to the status of Titan, only to discover that, despite gaining incredible powers, she was still subjected to the will of others. Determined that she would never be free until Empress Padme and her imperial court had been eliminated, Qi'ra took control of the Crimson Dawn syndicate, which by then had been in disarray and significantly weakened by the disappearance of their leader, Maul. Through the Dawn, Qi'ra established a secret power base in the criminal underworld across the Outer Rims, while her agents sought the Fermata Cage. This ancient Sith superweapon could trap even the most powerful beings, freezing them in time for eternity. Qi'ra planned to lure Empress Padme and several of her strongest followers to a desolate planet at the edge of the galaxy and imprison them with the Fermata Cage, plunging the Empire into chaos and allowing her and the Crimson Dawn to claim a significant portion of the Outer Rims to rule. Enacting her plan from her future capital of the casino city Canto Bight, Qi'ra awaited confirmation of whether her trap had succeeded when four massive towers that overshadowed all around suddenly appeared on the city horizon, revealing the colossal forms of Empress Padme and her closest servants, Grand General Aayla Secura, Archchancellor Shaak Ti, and Supreme Pristess Luminara Unduli.
Capturing Qi'ra in her grasp, the Empress told her that although the Fermata Cage had posed some momentary obstacles to her and her entourage, it had ultimately been ineffectual against their might. For her treasonous actions against the Empire, Qi'ra suffered the ultimate punishment for a Titan. She was shrunk to a height less than twice that of her pre-Titan self, barely larger than the tinies that existed solely to serve the Empire and its elite. Empress Padme was amused by Qi'ra's bold attempt at power and offered her a chance to reclaim her Titan powers. The only thing Qi'ra had to do was survive Padme's game, starting with building-sized dice rolling towards her.
