Lucy had always been considered one of the weaker members of the Fairly Tail guild, but she'd also always tried to not let it bother her. However, after a particularly difficult mission in which she was knocked out rather easily, she couldn't help but feel useless. When her team returned to the guild hall, she began to laze around and feel helpless while the rest of her team went to celebrate.
Out of curiosity and boredom, she decided to read the magic tome that they had retrieved from their mission (despite Master Makarov forbidding anyone from touching it). Opening to a random page, Lucy tried to read one of the weird phrases out loud. Immediately after reading it, she was engulfed in a bright light...
Upon opening her eyes, Lucy saw that she had grown to an enormous height. What was less apparent to her, however, was that the tome had also amplified the negative feelings she'd been trying to suppress. Her mind was quickly consumed by the euphoric rush her new power gave her... and an obsession with never feeling weak or powerless again!
While the other guild members desperately fought to stop Lucy's rampage, Erza held the tome with a small smile on her face...
