War is barbaric, so long ago disagreements were decided to be worked out through games of chess. However, to raise the stakes the games are played with live, shrunken men. Though neither queen is allowed to keep the kings, every other piece they take is theirs, so long as they win. This makes the games quite frightening for the little men.
