Colosselle stood tall above the city, ready to duke it out with yet another one of Dr. Carbonheart's vile contraptions. The reporters flocked around her feet, as usual. She was one of the most famous, and marketable, heroes after all. She obliged them by striking a risqué pose before turning her attention to the Doctor.
"Another one, Carbonheart? You never learn, do you?" she said as she cracked her knuckles, the sound echoing across the city.
"I think you'll find this one to be more than a match for you, Colosselle!" He retorted as he piloted the robot towards her. Without missing a beat, she engaged the robot, and both found themselves in a wrestling match. Just as she was about to gain the upper hand, Colosselle is distracted by a loud, repeating, buzzing noise.
Maya Parvat is awakened by the sound of her alarm. Groaning in frustration, she reaches her hand over to silence it, only to unknowingly crush it by mistake. She remembers that battle. It was almost thirty years ago now, and her 50th birthday was yesterday. She's not as young as she used to be, but she still looks damn good for her age. Sure, her hair is starting to grey, and her curves are more... pronounced. Regardless, those days are behind her and now her priorities are to her husband Dave. She gets out of bed, trying to ignore the knot in her back.
However, when she stands up, her head slams into the ceiling. She falls to her knees, the floor groaning under her weight, as she rubs the bump on her head. It seems that she had grown in her sleep... again. Her new pajamas are now in tatters.
"Shit, I just got these..." She winces in a deep voice as she surveys the damage to her room. Dave, having heard the commotion, rolls over to see his gigantic wife.
"Again?" He asks knowingly.
"Again..." Maya tells him, dejectedly. Dave gets out of bed as well.
"I'll get the sewing kit... and phone the contractor." Thankfully, her time as a hero meant that she has access to an insurance policy that covers these kinds of "incidents."
Just another day in the life of a retired heroine.
