A legend tells of a secret power some mermaids possess: when they feed on the blood of a human, it empowers them.
The sailors thought they had hit payday when their nets caught a real live mermaid. They quickly caged her in a tank and put her below deck, but they were unaware of her power. When one of them watching her cut his hand and his blood trickled into the water, she quickly consumed it, causing her to grow in size. Revitalized, she sang her hypnotic song, enticing the sailors to approach her, open their veins for her, and subsequently feed her.
She grew and grew, until her expanding body destroyed her prison; and she became large enough to truly feast upon her captors. Their flesh and blood fueled her growth as she ascended to a gargantuan size, and she burst through the deck in an explosion of growth. It was then she gave in to the carnal urges her growth had given her, and she began to use the now little ship to pleasure herself, all while she continued to feed on those who had abandoned ship and become a terrifying she-leviathan.
The ship and all souls aboard were never heard from again, and now ships take caution when traversing the gigantic mermaid’s domain, lest they attract her attention... and hunger.
